Living Goddes of Nepal- Kumari

Nepal’s Living Goddess locally known as Kumari. It is the tradition of worshiping young pre-pubescent girls as manifestations of the divine female energy or Devi in Hindu religious traditions. The word  ‘Kumari’ derived from Sanskrit Kaumrya which means “Virgin”.
In Nepal a Kumari is a pre-pubescent girl selected from the Shakya or Bajracharya clan of the Nepalese Newari Community. The Kumari is revered and Worshiped by both Hindus and Buddhists in Nepal. And the Royal Kumari of Kathmandu is lives in the Kumari Ghar which is situated at the

Darbar Square near by the Hanuman Dhoka Palace.
There are so many rules. For one Kumari’s mother has to apply special makeup at home on her face in intricate designs using rich shades of red and yellow as well as thick striking black around her eyes. Her feet were also painted and she was dressed in an ornate, traditional costume accessoried with jewellery which is passed down from one Kumari to the next. The girl isn’t allowed to go outside except for festivals. On those occasions, her feet must not touch the ground. That means someone has to carry the young goddess. And the Kumari is not allowed to speak to anyone besides her family and close friends.

A Kumari is believed to be the incarnation of the goddess Taleju (the Nepalese name of Durga)until she menstruates, after which it is believed that the goddess vacates her body. Serious illness or a major loss of blood from an injury are also causes for her to revert to common status.

Bardiya National Park Safari (6 Days)

Bardiya National Park is a protected area in Nepal that was established in 1988 as Royal Bardia National Park. Covering an area of 968 km2 (374 sq mi) it is the largest and most undisturbed wilderness area in Nepal's Terai, adjoining the eastern bank of the Karnali River in the Bardiya District.
The northern limits of the protected area are demarcated by the crest of the Siwalik Hills. The Nepalgunj-Surkhet highway partly forms the southern boundary, but seriously disrupts the protected area. Natural boundaries to human settlements are formed in the west by the Geruwa, a branch of the Karnali River, and in the southeast by the Babai River.

The Bardia jungle safari includes elephant ride, bird watching, jungle walk, canoe ride, jeep safari, local village excursion and cultural programs. Those who want to enjoy the Bardia jungle safari either take a flight to Nepalgunj or take a drive to Bardia, situated 585 km away south west of Kathmandu. Bardia jungle safari is a unique opportunity for all those who enjoy watching birds, animals and plants in the most natural environment. • Upper Mustang Trek (18 Days)

Mustang trek is an exploration of the concealed valleys of upper Mustang, nestled between Tibet and the Himalayas – a place different from the rest of the world. The wall city of Lomanthang used to be a part of Tibetan kingdom of Gungthang until 1830sThe early history of Lomanthang is embellished in myths and legends rather then the recorded facts. Even though the upper Mustang is changing it still surprises the visitors with its stunning vista and the stubborn way it cling to its unique culture. Indeed the culture is fighting back, crumbing art works and being restored.

Crumbing monasteries have been rebuilt and refilled with the sound of bald-headed children in robes studying the ancient Buddhist ways. There are around 275 houses in Lo Mangthang having four castes: the royal caste, the everyday folk, the blacksmiths and the butchers and millers. The royal palace roof has solar panels on it now a day, along with a small herb garden of various holy decorations, flapping flags and of course stacked firewood. There was a time when it was the mandatory of certain family to supply the firewood for the royal family. Sky burial and polyandry are still remain practice in this upper mustang region. Thus upper Mustang trekking is once in a lifetime destination to explore the fascinating medieval walled kingdom.
